experimental dance and  sound collaboration
with jay carlon for bangkok city ballet 2020

‘jay carlon is a contemporary choreographer based in los angeles whose highly physical work is focused in experimental, site-sensitive dance theatre’

the score was composed for ‘LANDLOCKED’ by fixing a long metal wire to a small DC motor, with an external motor speed controller - the wire, in its naturally random elliptical motion, was height adjusted to scrape and touch the top of a flat piece of cardboard with a contact microphone attached underneath to capture the sound - various pens and markers were attached to the end of the wire, producing a series of random drawings in the process of the wire’s movement - later, a polyphonic synthesizer was added to the score to complete the sound
